Couple of days back, David has graciously offered me a chance to get some books off of amazon.com, since he will be getting some too. This was all due to my obsessive ranting about Skulduggery Pleasant, which is a very entertaining book (i’m trying not to say it’s awesome) and even though some of the bits don’t get explained, it works perfectly.
Anyway, there’s a bit of a snag in this genius plan. I don’t know what to order. So, I thought I’d make a list, as always, to help me think.
That’s it for Skulduggery. Also I’d like to have the ones with this cover art. I’m rather particular about my cover art and will try to get the one I like. I ended up without most Neil Gaiman books for this reason. Speaking of which:
There are probably a couple more Gaiman books out there, but these are the ones I’d like at the moment. Keeping within the genre… kinda… The song of ice and fire series (here’s where I stop being particular about the cover art, since I’ve never seen a whole collection in one place… and apparently, the cover art blows donkeys on a street corner) :
One of the sad facts is that my dad read “A game of thrones” and I haven’t. Although I have it. I just like reading in English. And the one I have isn’t in English. But what’s a list of books without a little smut.
To quote Tom Lehrer: Give me smut! Give me smut and nothing but! 🙂 Mind you, it’s not Barbara Cartland… And thank goodness for that! Yes, yes, I like smut. Sue me!
Anyways, this is all I can think of at the moment, so I’ll leave it at that and go to amazon, see how much it all ads up to…
Wikipedia says:
“Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction and speculative fiction, frequently featuring elements of fantasy, that came into prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used — usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era England — but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date. Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of “the path not taken” of such technology as dirigibles, analog computers, or digital mechanical computers (such as Charles Babbage’s Analytical engine); these frequently are presented in an idealized light, or with a presumption of functionality.”
Been playing Arcanum all day (but giving up, slowly) so I thought I’d do a steampunk type post. Here goes. As always, original artwork available via click on the thumbnail.
-You know, Denise, that’s why you’re not married. Women act like men. Then they complain men don’t want them.
-Oh, is that why? ‘Cause I thought it was something different. I thought that it was ’cause I deserved the best and he’s out there. He’s just with all the wrong women. And let me be clear. After CENTURIES of men looking at my tits instead of my eyes and pinching my ass instead of shaking my hand, I now have the *DIVINE* right to stare at a man’s BACKSIDE with vulgar, cheap appreciation if I want to.
-You’re only 1 8 years old, for Christ’s sake!
-Then I’m 1 9, then I’m 20! When does my life belong to me?
I’m currently 24, closing in on 25 and the last 4 years have gone by unnoticably.
So, one last ditch attemtpt at saving my own life. Good luck and smooth sailing, me.
I’m feeling like cherry trees today, so this will be the theme of today’s list. I realize it’s terribly pink, but I can’t help it 🙂
Clicking on an image will lead you to the original artwork. Please go see, so I don’t get in trouble.
To end, some quotes:
“One tiny crack in the hull and our blood boils in thirteen seconds. Solar flare might crop up, cook us in our seats. And wait till you’re sitting pretty with a case of Andorian shingles, see if you’re so relaxed when your eyeballs are bleeding. Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence.” – Leonard “Bones” McCoy (he sounds like me in a moving vehicle)
“So, the Enterprise has had its maiden voyage, has it? She is one well-endowed lady. I’d like to get my hands on her “ample nacelles,” if you pardon the engineering parlance…” – Montgomery “Scotty” Scott
“However, if crew morale is better served by my roaming the halls weeping, I will gladly defer to your medical expertise.” – Spock
So I watched it yesterday… And… Um… *stands up in front of people*
“My name is Tash and I’m a Uhura/Spock shipper!”
Oh, get over it! I’ve been waiting for Spock to get his freak on since I first watched StarTrek. So if it’s with a glorified receptionist, so what! Ok, so Zachary Quinto scares me a bit. Must be the whole Sylar thing. But the man does a good Spock. Gotta give him that one. I would have liked to see me some more Spock nookie, but hey, I’ll takes ’em any way I can gets ’em. Hope lies in the sequels and the screenwriter’s wish to comply with fanservice (also known as the screenwriter’s wish not to be trampled by rabid fangirls).
All the other comments will be in another post.
BOLONJSKE LAZANJE
Ukratko:
Bolonjski sos
1 srednji luk
1 veća šargarepa
50g putera
100g slanine
400g mlevenog mesa
150g začinjenih kobasica
800g konzerviranog paradajza
100g paradajz soka
biber
đumbir u prahu
karamfilići
Bešamel
1/4 brašna (t-500)
100g putera
4 šolje mleka
150g parmezana
